This week on Inspiration Sounds we have two stories about the ancient family of the Guptas. King Samudra Gupta was born in AD 335 and grew to be the ruler of a vast kingdom. He is considered one of the greatest military leaders in Indian history. Our two stories mainly concern his two sons Rama Gupta who was the eldest, and Chandra Gupta the younger. Whilst Rama was considered haughty and undivine his brother Chandra was the exact opposite, brave sweet and polite. Rama Gupta’s jealousy towards his brother was the cause of much conflict.

Chandra Gupta and the Lion
In this story the younger brother performs an act of great bravery, and at the same time fuels the petty jealousy of Rama Gupta.

Rama Gupta’s Capture
Confusion reigns when King Samudra Gupta passes away and Rama Gupta makes his play for the throne with the inside help of a minister. Years pass, and along with his wife King Rama Gupta makes an ill fated decision to take a vacation from all the turmoil in his kingdom.
