CD Samplers: August 2009

Last modified August 4, 2009

Dear listeners, it is with great joy that we present you some samples from three CDs which are being released this month (August 09).

The first one is a group of samples from Pavaka’s “Pavaka Performs the Melodies of Sri Chinmoy, Vol.2″ CD.

Here are some of Pavaka’s notes about this release:

“The tracks on Vol 2. have been recorded between July 2007 and June 2009. I wanted to have a as much live performance as possible on the collection and invited several friends to participate. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a group of talented, generous and all around great guys. There are quite a few different styles on this CD, so I hope that everyone finds something they like. It should be available on iTunes by the end of August for those who like online ordering and/or want to get only some of the tracks. Otherwise the official CD release is August 22nd. My Heart Needs Only One Freedom (you can listen to the whole track here) is a collaboration between Parichayaka Hammerl and myself. I am particularly grateful to Parichayaka for his participation in this project. His input contributed significantly to the end result. Thanks for listening!”

The second sample is the track The Galaxies of Stars from Satyajit’s CD, My Supreme, My Supreme, My Supreme — Satyajit Recites

This CD is a selection of prayer-poems by Sri Chinmoy, from his book series titled My Morning Soul-Body Prayers.

Satyajit’s recitations have delighted us for years at our weekly group meditations, and we are very happy to announce that he is finally releasing a small collection of his masterful recitations. Premik provides background music for Satyajit’s tracks.

The third sample is Your Face Is My Dream from my (Kamalakanta) CD, Destined. This CD is a musical/spiritual exploration/expansion, in which different styles are expressed. The common link between them is my attempt to make music in a more “intuitive” way, rather than the usual Western “organized” way.

I attempt this by establishing some elements above which the melodies “float” a little, played by “feel”. The result is some arrangements is what I call an “aqua” effect; a feeling of fluidity, as if floating on the ocean.

We hope that you like this music. For us it is a very special and rare privilege to be able to play and sing Sri Chinmoy’s melodies, which are full of boundless Peace, Light and Bliss.
