Sri Chinmoy’s First Recorded Flute Performances

Dear listeners, this is a special collection of Sri Chinmoy‘s flute performances from the 1970’s. Some of these tracks are melodies composed by Sri Chinmoy; others are extemporaneous improvisations. The improvisations are labeled with a “Spontaneous” track title.

Sri Chinmoy’s flute music has a very special and deep sweetness that can only be felt, and never properly described in words. Words cannot do justice to the ineffable sweetness in Sri Chinmoy’s flute perormances. They have an inward energy, a flow into the heart, touching the depths of the inner-cry, aspiration.

At the same time, I feel in Sri Chinmoy’s playing an outward bound energy, like a call to humanity to rise and live the inner life. In the same way that the Ganges originates at the Himalayas as a small brook, and as it comes down it expands and becomes a mighty river that ultimately merges with the ocean, in that same way Sri Chinmoy’s flute music comes from the depths of his aspiring heart, from the heights of his inner realisation, and offers itself to aspiring humanity.

We hope that the magic of this flute music’s sweetness and aspiration touches the depths of your being and brings you endless hours of joy and delight.

We are grateful to Sri Chinmoy for this soulful and illumining offering.
