This week’s episode of Inspiration Sounds features some prominent patriots from India’s past. As we know they had many a year under the thumb of British rule and for many it was a struggle to have their independence, so people turned towards leaders who showed great bravery in the face of extreme adversity. Many laid down their lives for the cause and a belief that each country has the right to self government and that its people should be free.

Khudhiram
In 1905 there was a great revolt in Bengal against the British rulers. “Bande Mataram” became the slogan, the cry of the people for freedom it was their life breath. Two young revolutionaries were chosen for a daring mission execute a ruthless English Judge, one was named Khudhiram.

Only to please you, Mother
Raja Rammohan Ray was hailed as a supreme hero who had indomitable faith in his own will power. In this story as a child in a temple he refused to bow down to a statue of Mother Durga infuriating his family. But his reason left his parents extremely moved.

Rammohan Keeps his Prestige
Rammohan stands up to the Governor-General of India Lord Bentik when he is asked to see him immediately. Just because he held the highest post in India Rammohan said that doesn’t mean he has to listen to everything he says and do as he asks. This stand ended up gaining a lot of respect from Bentik.
