Inspiration-Sounds 2

Last modified March 13, 2006

Hello, and welcome to Inspiration-Sounds: Stories From The Heart of The World. This is episode II, and it is the first time we are using a new format enabling you to hear all the stories in one complete show. If you wish, you may also hear the stories individually in your own time.

In this episode you will hear from Sri Chinmoy’s book of collected stories entitled ‘Garden of The Soul.’ In it he writes, “Inside each of us there is a beautiful flower garden. This is the garden of the soul… With every lesson we learn from life, our soul garden grows and glows.”

I do hope that you enjoy the stories.

Sri Chinmoy writes, “The promise-maker has a great mind. The promise-fulfiller has a good heart.”

I am sure we have all made promises we have not been able to keep, but this true story illustrates the beauty and goodness of a promise fulfilled by one friend to another.

This is a fun story about how a wife’s wisdom light illumines the suspicions of her husband’s mind. Hated by all the village, with many praying for his immediate death, his loving wife finds an interesting way of preserving his future and touching his heart.

This is a story about one of the early lives of Lord Buddha. With his heart of compassion he tries to help his family, stricken with poverty, in the most magical of ways. However, his wife is captured by greed, and what was once a beautiful life turns into one of tears and sadness. Written as a poignant reminder of the many desires of the mind.
