Ananda is a group of Sri Chinmoy students from England, who sing and play Sri Chinmoy's melodies in a wide array of styles.

The common thread, nevertheless, is the sweetness and soulfulness that they impart to their interpretation of Sri Chinmoy's melodies.

These songs are devotional poems set to music, and Ananda's arrangements reveal and manifest their love for spiritual music.

According to Sri Chinmoy, music plays a very important role, both in the individual life of the spiritual seeker, as well as for the world at large. Music is the universal language, and as such, it unifies and brings us together as one world-family, rejoicing in the common feelings of our hearts.

In his efforts at fostering world harmony and friendship, Sri Chinmoy has given more than 800 free concerts all over the world since 1984. In venues large and small, from the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall, to smaller, more modest venues, Sri Chinmoy tries to share moments of profound inner peace and harmony through music. This, along with his World Harmony Run, an international torch relay for world harmony and friendship among all people, are two significant contributions to humanity's welfare and goodwill.

Inside each human being is a fountain of love, compassion, light and oneness. Spiritual music has direct access to these higher emotions, the pinnacle of our achievements here on Earth. Whether listeningor playing spiritual music, our consciousness is elevated, and we are able to discover new vistas, new horizons of our inner reality.

We are grateful to Ananda for such a soulful rendition of Sri Chinmoy's melodies. It is indeed a very balanced blend of East and West. We hope all those who listen to this music will bask in the sunshine of its beauty, height and depth.
