Sri Chinmoy's songs are full of both power and subtlety, poise and intense devotion, plus they carry his consciousness as a fully-realised spiritual master. In Sri Chinmoy's writings there are numerous passages about the virtues of soulful music, and how it can elevate the human consciousness. It is indeed a great aid to meditation.

Whether he is identifying with the deep sorrow of any human being, or expressing his own highest states of realization, Sri Chinmoy sings from the heart, to the soul; both to the Universal Soul and to the individual soul.

Some of the songs in this LP release are not by Sri Chinmoy. The first song, Bande Mataram, is by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, the great Bengali writer. Song no. 6, Mayer Bijay Tomari Hok Jai is by Birendra Shekhar Palit. Song no. 7, Hiyar Dip Shikha, is by Lily Ghose, Sri Chinmoy's revered sister. Song no. 10, Ananda Man Chale Jai is by Sri Chinmoy's dearest brother, Chittaranjan Ghose. All other songs are by Sri Chinmoy.

Music transcends all barriers, it is indeed the universal language. Sri Chinmoy's music is and will be of service to those seekers who are sincerely crying for a higher life, a life of inner progress, a life of self-transcendence.

We are most grateful to Sri Chinmoy for this soulful and illumining offering, and we hope that the inner light embodied in this music will inspire countless people throughout generations to come.
