Sri Chinmoy released the LP "Songs of Eternity" in 1972. It is a selection of poems from his book, "My Flute". This book is a unique example of mystical poetry. In his very simple, yet beautifully elegant style, Sri Chinmoy's devotional poetry manifests the height and depth of mysticism, while at the same time charming us with the devotee's sweet intimacy with God. Sri Chinmoy started writing poems in the early 1940s, while at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, a spiritual community in Pondicherry, India.

Throughout his 43 years in the West, Sri Chinmoy sought to share with humanity the light, joy and peace that he received through his prayers and meditations. He felt in his heart of hearts the unlimited potential of every human being, and that if people could go deeper and higher within themselves they would find that fountain of infinite peace, light and bliss that abides within all.

He was universally recognized and respected as a leader in world harmony. His numerous worldwide initiatives, such as the World Harmony Run, sought to foster friendship and oneness between peoples of all nationality, creed, and race.

In the early 70's Sri Chinmoy toured the world, giving talks at all the Ivy League universities, as well as at other world-renowned universities, such as Oxford and Cambridge. After giving numerous talks and answering hundreds, if not thousands, of questions, he decided that the message he wanted to deliver would be better served by meditative music instead of words.

In 1984 he started what he called "Peace Concerts", where he played his original compositions on a wide variety of musical instruments. In this 23-year span from 1984 to 2007, Sri Chinmoy offered more than 800 concerts around the world. Among the prestigious halls in which Sri Chinmoy performed his music are Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Royal Albert Hall (6 times), the Sydney Opera House, and the Budokan Hall in Tokyo. All his concerts were always offered free of charge to the pubic, as a devoted service to the aspiring soul of humanity.

In this LP, "Songs of Eternity", we have a good example of the expressiveness of Sri Chinmoy's music. As a musician and a poet he showed and shared heights unparalleled.

We are grateful to Sri Chinmoy for this soulful and illumining offering, and hope that the innner beauty of this music will captivate your heart and lead you to greater heights in your life-journey.
