"Dusahasi Pather Mita" and "Amito Tomare"
Songs by Sri Chinmoy, arranged by Kamalakanta Nieves

These beautiful songs by Sri Chinmoy touch me deeply. I cannot help but play with them and, at the same time, the songs are playing with me. I feel like a child, playing with spheres of light in different colors.
This is one of the things I like most about Sri Chinmoy's poetry and music: that he is able to identify with our human condition, and express it in such an artful way.
The meaning of the songs is (translation by Sri Chinmoy):
DUSAHASI PATHER MITA
"Indomitable storm is my fellow-traveler.
It calls me again and again
To play with it.
Tenebrous night also calls me to play with it;
Therefore I leave You
And go away far, very far.
O Beloved Supreme,
Will You not bind me once and for all
In the core of you eternity's Heart?"
-Sri Chinmoy
AMITO TOMARE
"I do not need You.
Yet why do You need me?
You know very well that I shall not surrender
my earth-existence to You.
Yet, why do You love me?
I know Your Compassion-Eye.
You forgive my little "i".
Alas, why do I always remain in the heart
of blind darkness-night?"
-Sri Chinmoy
