Ranjit & Unmesh Swanson – 18 October 2006

Last modified October 20, 2006

In this live performance, Ranjit and Unmesh Swanson sing two songs in traditional Indian Baoul style. The first song “Vishma Ar Drona” is composed by Sri Chinmoy, and is related to two of the great heroes of the Mahabharata – Vishma and Drona.

The second song is a Bengali devotional song, which was a favourite of Sri Ramakrishna and Sarada Devi.

The performance was recorded live, 2006 in New York during a function with Sri Chinmoy

Their performance transports us to Bengal, India, to the late 1800’s. We suddenly find ourselves near the Panchavati, where Sri Ramakrishna used to meditate and enter into trance listening to devotional songs.
