Russian singer Boris Grebenshikov is not only a well known figure in Russia’s music world, but he sings his meaningful lyrics with heart and soul. He has had a perennial interest in spirituality and meditation, frequently visiting India and Tibet, and translating ancient Indian and Buddhist texts into Russian. He first met Sri Chinmoy in 2006, and the two developed a tremendous mutual appreciation. Sri Chinmoy gave him the spiritual name ‘Purushottama’, meaning ‘the one who transcends all boundaries’. In March 2008, Purushottama led a large international orchestra in a tribute concert to Sri Chinmoy following his passing the previous October.
