“Aspiration-Cry”, CD 1-3
1985, 2007

These CD’s are part of a series of recordings produced in New York in 1985 as a set of 5 cassettes and 9 CDs and re-released in 2007.

In 1984 Sri Chinmoy had launched his worldwide concert tour in Cologne, Germany. For the next 23 years he would continue to share moments of inner peace through music, offering concerts in renowned concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House, among many others. In places big and small, his concerts, which were always offered free of charge to the public, were part of his worldwide initiatives to serve the Divinity in humanity.

In this first CD we feel a very lyrical, poetic and soulful vein that runs through Sri Chinmoy’s music. This vein is the inner cry of his aspiring heart. This heart of love and concern yearned to share with humanity the fruits of his prayers and meditations; the sweetness, peace, light, harmony and bliss of the inner life. Music is, among all the arts, perhaps the most adequate instrument to express this, since music is the most inmost of all arts. Music springs from the depths of our being, like a fountain, gushing forth with joy.

In the 2nd CD Sri Chinmoy combines soulful and powerful performances of his songs with free improvisations. He truly takes us on a journey of unexplored territories; expansive landscapes of unique sonorities. At the same time, his singing, flooded with true heart-aspiration, cannot but move us forward and upward in our search for the highest Truth.

In the 3rd CD Sri Chinmoy delights us with his flute playing. The Western flute was one of Sri Chinmoy’s favorite instruments, and of all he instruments in which he performed, it is perhaps the most universally liked.
