Sri Chinmoy loves Borobudur. It is a great Buddhist temple located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and built around the eighth century A.D.
On Christmas Day 2003, Sri Chinmoy offered a prayerful and soulful concert at the feet of the Borobudur Temple. Sri Chinmoy has always had tremendous love and adoration for the Lord Buddha, and visiting Borobudur was a very, very special experience for Sri Chinmoy.
The Buddha's message spread far and wide outside of India, but is greatly influenced by Indian mysticism. His philosophy of Ahimsa (non-violence) was part of the ancient vedic lore. In his essay titled "The Song of the Infinite" Sri Chinmoy writes about the connection between the Vedas and Buddhism.
Sri Chinmoy has also written a play about the Lord Buddha's life, titled "Siddhartha Becomes The Buddha". It is a soul-stirring and affectionate depiction of some episodes of Lord Buddha's life.
We hope that this concert will be an inspiration to all the Truth-seekers and God-lovers around the world.
Our gratitude to Sri Chinmoy for this most illumining and soulful offering.
