Listen Now!

Pavaka Ritchot is an excellent musician. He studies meditation with Sri Chinmoy, and produces arrangements of Sri Chinmoy's melodies in an open, Western style.

His first CD, titled "Pavaka: The Melodies of Sri Chinmoy, Part 1" is available on CD Baby. It is also available in the iTunes music store, under the "New Age" category. You can listen to a sample of the CD here at Radio Sri Chinmoy

Recently, Pavaka gave a live performance in New York on June 23, 2007. In this performance, he played by himself, using a pedal to achieve the sound of various musicians at once. Pavaka explains:

"The song is called Jago Jananir and it was written by Sri Chinmoy on January 28, 2006. When I play it I start by creating of loop of the melody itself. The effect pedal I use allows me to add almost as many layers as I want after that. In this case, there are 5 layers: the melody, a bassline, a harmony, a 2-note drone, the melody at an octave higher plus some improvisations in between. I have a lot of fun creating music in this way. It's almost like playing with a whole band. This performance, recorded in New York, was the second public performance of this piece." -Pavaka

What Pavaka achieved is not easy at all! It takes a lot of talent and hard work to achieve this level of performance. We are grateful to Pavaka for regaling us with his musical offerings, and wish him the best success in his musical journey.
