The Cries of the Unknown And the Smiles of the Unknowable

Last modified November 16, 2012

Sri Chinmoy plays extemporaneously on two pianos – at the same time. This unique recording comes from a Peace Concert that Sri Chinmoy offered at Buchman Hall, New York in 1990.

From the notes on the original cassette:

“This recording contains Sri Chinmoy’s first venture into two-piano “duet” performances. It is from the February 27, 1990 Peace Concert at Buchman Hall in New York that marked his third anniversary at the piano. Sri Chinmoy performs on two pianos simultaneously- playing live on the second one while a special machine, linked electronically to the keyboard of the first piano, re-performs his earlier piece, note for note.”

Sri Chinmoy’s artistic creations, whether in literature, music or painting and drawing, truly had no limits. His range of expression is remarkable in its scope, breath, height and depth. From a simple, pure melody to the powerful improvisations at the piano and organ, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
