Paree’s Group, August 2025 Selected Performances

Sri Chinmoy was born on August 27, 1931 in Bengal (now part of Bangladesh), India. Every August, his disciples meet in New York to celebrate his Birthday. It is a two-week event that features group meditations, musical performances by groups from many countries, Sporting events, including a 26-mile marathon and a 47-mile run, a sports day and sports games. All in all, a very cheerful gathering, combining peace and dynamism, joy and cheerfulness, all in a great spiritual atmosphere and camaraderie.
Part of the performances in this August 2025 Celebrations was Paree’s Group. We bring you here a selection from this wonderful group.
“Paree’s Group is an international all-female a cappella singing group with over 70 members from more than 20 countries across five continents worldwide. Formed by Sri Chinmoy in the 1980’s — when the original members were just young children — Paree’s Group continues on today, performing Sri Chinmoy’s songs, both in meditative unison and with vocal arrangements by Paree Atkin. The songs are spiritual in nature, soulful and haunting, sometimes powerful, sometimes playful — all myriad expressions of the seeker’s sincere cry for the Divine within. Sri Chinmoy composed over 22,000 songs in his lifetime (1931-2007), both in his native language Bengali, and in English, and we are devoted to keeping this astounding and breathtaking legacy alive.”
