Divinity’s Multiplicity-Smiles

Last modified July 24, 2016

Sri Chinmoy performs on a unique collection of 27 different pianos, creating a distinctive and dynamic sound. The recording took place on 21 April 1991, in the auditorium of Public School 86 in Jamaica, New York. In total, Sri Chinmoy performed on the 27 pianos for 1 hour 39 minutes.

Some of the pianos chosen for this performance were antique and rare models, creating a rare, distinctive sound. Like many of Sri Chinmoy’s piano performances, he adds his own spontaneous improvisation to his own basic melodies – offering a dynamic and original music, from the heart of his creativity.

Afterwards, Sri Chinmoy described the concert as:

“An experience unforgettable of the human in me for the divine in me, an imperishable realization of the divine in me for the human in me.”

Part 2 – pianos 19 -27

This piano performance was one of many ways in which Sri Chinmoy commemorated the 27th anniversary of his arrival in America. (Sri Chinmoy arrived in New York on 13th April, 1964) During those April Celebrations Sri Chinmoy also offered, meditations, concerts, and sporting activities.
