God’s Compassion-Rain

Last modified July 12, 2022

The recording God’s Compassion-Rain is a selection of recordings by Sri Chinmoy from a series of concerts held in the United States between 1989 and 1991. It includes a stirring recording of Phire Chalo, a favourite song of Sri Chinmoy.

The New Year’s Concert was held on Dec. 10 1989 in Washington Irving High School (Track 2, Chinese Gong).
At the concert, letters were read out from several Prime Ministers and U.S. Governors, who congratulated Sri
Chinmoy on being the 20th Century’s First Global Man.

MESSAGE FOR THE NEW YEAR 1990
My Lord Supreme,
I am now feeling powerfully great
By offering You my mind’s gratitude-smiles.
My Beloved Supreme,
I am now feeling breathlessly good
By offering You my heart’s gratitude-cries.
My Lord Beloved Supreme,
Out of Your infinite Bounty,
Do share with me a blessingful secret
For the New Year, 1990.

“My child,
My infinity’s Dream-treasuring child,
I shall share with you not one,
But two blessingfully sacred secrets.
Yesterday’s self-gratifying division-hunger-world
Will before long be buried in oblivion-cave.
My child,
My Immortality’s Reality-manifesting child,
Today’s self-giving oneness-aspiration-world
Will receive from Me
In the victory-flooded future
My Transcendental Silence-Crown
And My Universal Sound-Throne.”
    – Sri Chinmoy, New Year’s Messages from Sri Chinmoy, 1966-1994, Agni Press, 1994.

The last part of this recording (Phire Chalo, track 8) is from the Sri Chinmoy’s Peace concert sponsored by The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (USA), India’s main cultural organisation in the U.S. on April 21 1990 at the Community Church of New York. During the concert, he also sang a song he had composed that day on the Bhavan.
