Last modified February 22, 2019

Mantic Songs by Arthada and Friends is an album of selected songs recorded between 2006 and 2011. The recordings include sacred mantras and invocations – including the Maha Mantra – a famous mantra with words by Sri Chaitanya and set to music by Sri Chinmoy.

There are also two songs dedicated to Saraswati – the goddess of knowledge, music, art, and wisdom.

All songs are composed by Sri Chinmoy except

1) Saraswati – Old Indian mantra, music by Boris Purushottama Grebenshikov
4) Aum Guru, Jay Guru – Aum Arhum – Ancient mantra in Jainism, music by Sri Chinmoy
6) Maha Mantra – words by Sri Chaitanya, music by Sri Chinmoy

Arthada & Friends is a group of mainly Austrian musicians who have followed the path of Sri Chinmoy for many years and meditate daily. They arrange the devotional compositions of their spiritual master for performance on both eastern and western instruments. They include the sitar, tambura, sarangi, harmonium, several wooden flutes, tablas, djembe, madal, erhu, clarinet, bass and cello. The ensemble was founded in 1992 and have performed on stage in 18 European countries, in Asia and in America.
