Sri Chinmoy’s Flute Anniversary Concert, 2004

Last modified July 13, 2008

Dear friends, Sri Chinmoy started playing the Western flute in 1976, in Australia. Since then, the flute, along with the esraj, became one of Sri Chinmoy’s favorite instruments.

From 1984 to 2007, Sri Chinmoy offered more than 750 free concerts of soulful music around the world, trying to share with the public at large moments of sacred peace, light and bliss through meditation and music.

This music is a form of meditation, and in meditation we expand our consciousness and embrace the whole world.

Sri Chinmoy’s music embodies the highest height and deepest depth of human experience. It connects us to our Source. When you touch the ocean, you feel the whole ocean, even though you are touching only a few drops with your hand. Similarly, Sri Chinmoy’s music is a passage way to the Infinite consciousness achieved in meditation. We all embody this consciousness, and meditation and music enable us to feel the Infinite within us. Through soulful playing and soulful singing, Sri Chinmoy strives to serve the highest in each human being, so humanity can make the fastest progress.
