Interview On KPFA Radio in Berkeley, California.

Last modified October 16, 2013

During his second visit to San Francisco in June 1973, Sri Chinmoy was interviewed by KPFA Radio in Berkeley. In this live radio interview Sri Chinmoy answered questions, from the radio host and several listeners, on topics such as: what is the spiritual life? acceptance of the world, the soul’s evolution, love and aspiration,  negative thoughts, and Western poets and philosophers.  Later that day Channel 5 TV interviewed him on film shown that evening on the 6:00 news.

Just after arrival to San Francisco (Wednesday, May 30), Sri Chinmoy and his students met at the Golden Gate Park, where the San Francisco meditation centre had planted a peace tree. Sri Chinmoy blessed the tree and gave it the Sanskrit name Purnatura (Perfection Tree). In the evening, there was a public meditation at a large church sanctuary which was filled beyond its 700 person capacity – an estimated 900 people packed the pews and aisles. After the meditation Sri Chinmoy asked for questions from the audience and many sincere seekers came forward with meaningful questions.
