Peace-Blossoms – songs on Peace

Last modified January 11, 2021

Sri Chinmoy sings twenty of his peace songs at a Peace Concert, held in Public School 86, New York on February 22, 1992.  With these 20 songs Sri Chinmoy accompanies himself with a small synthesizer.

“My ultimate goal is for the whole world to walk together in peace and oneness. Just as a rose has many petals, all of which add to the beauty and fragrance of the rose, so too the world shall become one world, family. Together we shall live in harmony in a spirit of self-giving for the good of all.”

– Sri Chinmoy

Shanti

Shanti is the Sanskrit word for peace. The translation of one song from this album – Shanti sagare khelibo / Paramer ankhi sathe

Translation:

I shall sport and I shall dance
In the sea of peace
With the Vision-Eye
Of my Beloved Supreme.

– Sri Chinmoy [Shanti sagare, from Journey’s Ecstasy songbook]

The 20th song is Shanti shanti hridaye shanti

Peace, Peace,
Peace within my heart reigns supreme.
The soul-stirring flute of Lord Krishna
is being played
In my Heaven and on my earth.
The destruction-shadows of dark demons
And the ignorance-delusion of sombre night
Lie long-buried in the depths of my
body, mind, heart and life.
My aspiration-flames ever swim across
the expanse of Your compassion-waters.

– Sri Chinmoy, from Garden of Love-Light, part 1
