Selected performances from Songs of the Soul Concert, Washington D.C

Last modified June 28, 2013

Sri Chinmoy’s students share their arrangement/interpretations of Sri Chinmoy’s melodies in a “Songs of the Soul” concert in Washington, D.C on June 1st, 2013.

On June 1st, 2013, Sri Chinmoy students from New York and Canada offered a soulful concert at the Greenberg Theatre in Washington, D.C.

The concert was a wonderful collection of excellent performances. It was a very special night, and those of us who had the privilege to perform could feel the warm appreciation from the audience.

Sri Chinmoy composed more than 20,000 songs in his lifetime. These songs are surcharged with soulfulness and delight. By offering these concerts, his students aim to share moments of deep peace, light and beauty with humanity at large. These are songs that spring from the depths of Sri Chinmoy’s heart of love for God and for humanity.

Both Paree’s Group and Vedic Fire offer deep, sweet and delightful vocal performances of Sri Chinmoy’s songs. Sangit Surabhi, a female group from Canada, has a universal style that encompasses both the subtle beauty and cheerful dynamism inherent in Sri Chinmoy’s songs. Finally, the New York Sri Chinmoy Students All-Local Choir performed a medley of songs about the new millennium, composed by Sri Chinmoy and arranged and conducted by Paree Atkin.

We hope you find these performances as inspiring as we do.
