Soinika Plays his Arrangement of “Swapan Tari”, August 23, 2005

Soinika is an accomplished artist and musician. In this recording he offers us his arrangement of “Swapan Tari”. This interpretation of “Swapan Tari” offers new light as to how this song can be played and sung. Sri Chinmoy’s music adapts itself to the sensibility of each musician’s culture and style. In contrast to Classical music, where the composer is also the arranger, and thus the music is delivered in the cultural and personal style of the composer, Sri Chinmoy’s songs are strictly composed by Sri Chinmoy as a single melody, so the arranger can adapt it to suit his preferred style of playing. Also, within Sri Chinmoy’s melodies, some sound Indian, while others have a more universal appeal. Many, many different styles of songs Sri Chinmoy has composed. Our gratitude to Soinika for this soulful offering.
