The Astrologer Fulfils His Prophecies – a play

Last modified June 3, 2018

This play was written by Suren Leosson from Iceland, using one of the charming short stories related by Sri Chinmoy over the years.

The play, which features a rich young man and his valet, is inspired by the Jeeves and Wooster series of stories written by P.G Wodehouse, and the subsequent BBC television series.

Suren kindly wrote a little introduction to the play:

Every year when we, in the Sri Chinmoy Centre get together for our Christmas trips, short plays and other kinds of entertainment are staged every night. Through Sri Chinmoy’s encouragement, I got involved in staging plays almost 20 years ago, and every year I try to put on at least 1 or 2 plays, because it gives me joy and the audience as well.

Lately, I’ve been preoccupied with bringing some measure of elegance into my plays and have tried to bring singing into them. We are all amateur actors and, perhaps, even more amateur singers, but the audience seems to appreciate the effort!

The following play is based on Sri Chinmoy’s story “The Astrologer Fulfils His Prophecies” from Sri Chinmoy’s series of stories Is Your Mind Ready to Cry? Is Your Heart Ready to Smile?. The interpretation is inspired by the TV series Jeeves and Wooster.
