Sanskrit and Bengali devotional songs, May 2018

Last modified June 5, 2018

A soulful performance recorded live in New York, 30 May 2018 by Vedic Fire, a male vocal ensemble who sing Sanskrit and Bengali devotional songs by Sri Chinmoy accompanied only by harmonium.

Their performances are always very lofty and elevating; very contemplative. As such, they are excellent for meditation. For me, they give the feeling of being at the top of the highest mountain, contemplating the immortal truths of life. We hope you enjoy this soulful offering by Vedic Fire. It is very conducive to meditation.

The first song ‘Saha nav avatu’ is a significant ancient Sanskrit chant. Sri Chinmoy’s translation is below.

Saha nav avatu
Saha nav bhunaktu
Saha viryam karavavahai

May He protect us (the disciple and the Master) both.
May He nourish us both.
May we both work together with energy, indomitable and endless. [1]
