Dear listeners, it is with great joy that we offer you performances from two local NY groups of Sri Chinmoy students: “Earth-Bondage-Liberation-Dream” also known as Satyajit’s Group, and “Heart-Dawn”, also known as Samahita’s Group.
Sri Chinmoy’s students have a natural affinity with his songs. Sri Chinmoy composed around 20,000 songs in his lifetime. Of these, around 13,000 were in his native language, Bengali, and the other 7,000 in English. As a God-realised spiritual Master, Sri Chinmoy had the capacity to identify himself with humanity’s joys and sorrows, victories and defeats, accomplishments and failures.
His songs express the myriad of states of consciousness that the seeker experiences on his/her way to God-Realisation, and there is great beauty in these songs by Sri Chinmoy.
The first song from the group Heart-Dawn, for example, is Usha Bala Elo. Here is Sri Chinmoy’s translation:
Usha Bala Elo
“Slowly, very slowly,
The virgin dawn appears
In the very depths of my aspiration-heart.”
And the songs performed by Earth-Bondage-Liberation-Dream:
“O bird of my heart,
Fly on, fly on.
Look not behind.
Whatever the world gives
Is meaningless, useless
And utterly false.”
Nai Nai Nai Ami Ar Nai
“No, no, no! I no longer exist.
What exists is only a fragile shadow.
And that, too, has lost its existence-life
In a golden lightning spark.”
Vishnu Debata Vishnu
“O Lord Vishnu, O Lord Vishnu!
You are Your Eternity’s Patience-Light.
O Compassion Incarnate!
You are Your Infinity’s Forgiveness-Flow.”
These songs are performed with love and sweetness-devotion. We hope they inspire you on your inner journey to the treasures of the heart!
