“Two Pipe Organs in Connecticut”- CD by Sri Chinmoy

Last modified February 19, 2013

A  recording of two sublime and powerful organ performances by Sri Chinmoy. These recordings were made at Yale University’s Woolsey Hall and First United Church of Christ in Connecticut.

“Dear listeners, it is with great joy and pride that we bring you this CD, which includes two organ performances by Sri Chinmoy.
Sri Chinmoy plays the organ with tremendous energy and imagination. Every conceivable texture and dynamic is present, from a single melody to the resonance of multiple sounds.

Throughout his musical career (1984-2007), Sri Chinmoy played more than one hundred different instruments in many venues all over the world. His concerts, always free of charge to the public, were an offering, a way to share moments of inner beauty, peace and light with others. Of all the instruments he played, Sri Chinmoy said the organ is the one that satisfied him the most. When we hear the range of expression he achieves in these organ performances, we can see why. The sheer spectrum of sonic landscapes, the force of the forte passages, the subtlety of the sublime moments, cannot be described, but only heard and felt.

The music expressed in these performances has a universal feeling to it, in the most cosmic, expansive sense of the word. Sri Chinmoy often said that inside meditation there is tremendous dynamism, and that inside dynamism there is peace. In these organ performances, these two opposites, peace and dynamism, complement each other perfectly.

We hope you enjoy this soulful musical offering by Sri Chinmoy as much as we do.”
